Welcome Letter
Welcome to the Westchester Photographic Society!! WPS is organized as a nonprofit corporation chartered by the State of New York to cultivate, foster and promote participation in photography among our members and the community. We are the largest and most active camera club in the Westchester area.
Membership in WPS is open to all who are interested in photography. Our purpose is to support your interest in photography at any level you desire. Our members range from beginners to advanced amateurs to professional photographers. Several members are not photographers but come to view good photos and enjoy the pleasant sociability the club provides. Whatever your interest, you are welcome to join the Society.
The Society meets at 8:00 P.M. every Friday except holiday weekends in the auditorium of the Technology Building at Westchester Community College. Meetings are open to the public. Enter the campus through the East Gate and park in the large lot on the left (Lot 11 Parking Area).
Society activities are designed to benefit both the beginner and advanced photographer. Competitions are held in a digital projector category as well as color slides and both black & white and color prints. WPS also offers Open Mind divisions for your more imaginative slides, prints and digital images. Separate critique sessions are held to provide you with expert opinions of your work. To improve your photographic skills, lectures, demonstrations, workshops and shooting sessions are held on all aspects of photography. The Society also sponsors print exhibitions and field trips. A video tape library is maintained for the convenience of our members. Our members also enjoy discounts from our local sponsors. To serve the community, Society members lecture at libraries and local schools and present slide shows in Westchester. We also have an ongoing College Shooting Program to document activities at WCC. Our future activities are limited only by your imagination.
